Packaging Innovations Success

Our fourth time exhibiting at Packaging Innovations on the 1st and 2nd March, was our most encouraging yet. Both days of the show, saw an extremely high footfall, where we met with customers old and new to discuss their requirements and work with them to develop solutions to improve their co-packing function – and consequently their business.

The exhibition always provides a fantastic opportunity for us to get in front of key decision makers, as well as a chance to catch up with customers and network with our peers – and this show was no different.

This year, the Evolve Pack stand had a fresh new look, which attracted many visitors and allowed us to talk about our wide range of services, from manual re-work and gift set collation to more specialised services such as container decanting and pick to order, with potential new clients.

We also sponsored the show’s “Happy Hour”, where all visitors could redeem a voucher for a free drink, providing the ideal time for us all to network in a relaxed atmosphere away from the stand.

We feel that Packaging Innovations 2017 was the perfect platform for us to promote our services to a wider audience and are looking forward to exhibiting again next year.

Evolve Pack to unveil new services at Packaging Innovations 2017

On the 1st and 2nd of March, Evolve Pack will once again be exhibiting at Packaging Innovations, the UK’s only event dedicated to the packaging industry, which is being held at the NEC in Birmingham.

Our stand, H34, will be showcasing the wide range of services we offer, whilst our expert team will be on hand to advise on the best packing solution for you and your business, as well as answer any packing queries you may have.

Traditionally recognised for our contract packing solutions – from flow wrapping, cartoning, shrink wrapping and multi-bagging to gift set collations, end of aisle displays and manual rework – we are also promoting our Container De-canting and Storage services.

A recent move to new premises has enabled Evolve Pack to extend its services, with additional storage space enabling us to provide storage only solutions. Dedicated loading bays also mean we can offer an effective and efficient container de-canting service – meaning we can now provide a complete turnkey solution, from container to shelf, or even direct to consumer using our pick and pack service.

“Packaging Innovations is a truly unique event and a must attend for anyone involved in our industry,” explains Steve Frixou. “For Evolve Pack, it provides the perfect platform from which to launch our new services, as well as a chance to meet customers and get in front of the key decision makers in the industry. We are really looking forward to showcasing what Evolve Pack has to offer and welcoming visitors to our stand.

“This year, we are also the sponsor of the show’s “Happy Hour”. All attendees to the event will receive a voucher in their welcome bag which entitles them to a free drink between 2.30pm and 3.30pm – an ideal time to take a break and a chance to network in a more relaxed atmosphere!” adds Steve.

If you would like to arrange a meeting with Evolve Pack at Packaging Innovations, please call Commercial Manager Joanne Gill on 07415 079810 or just pop along to stand H34.

Evolve Pack strengthens team with appointment of new Commercial Manager

Evolve Pack, one of the UK’s leading contract packing companies, has strengthened its managerial team with the appointment of Joanne Gill as Commercial Manager.

Joanne brings over 25 years of commercial knowledge to the role, having previously held positions with M&S Logistics, a global provider of bulk liquid transport, and Brenntag, a global chemical distributor. Joanne’s ability to work with businesses of all sizes, from global giants to specialist regional producers, will prove invaluable in helping to establish Evolve Pack as a leader in its field.

“Traditionally Evolve Pack has been regarded as a biscuit and confectionary packer. However, the company works with a far wider array of sectors and offers an extensive range of services. As Commercial Manager, it will be my job to ensure both existing and potential customers are aware of this, as well as identifying other markets where we can really help businesses manage their packing needs more effectively and efficiently,” explains Joanne.

“The company has also just moved into new, larger premises and now has the capacity to take on new, and more varied, work. One of my responsibilities will be to find this business, helping to grow Evolve Pack from the already successful business it is, into the market leader we know it can be – and I am very much looking forward to the challenge!” adds Joanne.

Steve Frixou, Managing Director of Evolve Pack, welcomes Joanne to the team: “This is an extremely important time for Evolve Pack. Over the past twenty years we have developed the business from a recruitment agency into what it is today – one of the country’s leading contract packing companies – and we are now well placed to take the business even further. This is where Joanne comes in. Her ability to spot opportunities and maximise them is second to none, and we’re confident that this, combined with her sound commercial awareness, will help us achieve that next level.

“Joanne will be supported by a strong operations team lead by Operations Director, Johnny Izamis, who joined us earlier this year. The aim of these two new appointments is to further enhance – both operationally and commercially – our existing team, which already has extensive knowledge and experience of the Evolve Pack brand, creating a bright and positive future for the business and its employees,” adds Steve.

Evolve Pack offers a comprehensive range of contract packing solutions from flow wrapping and multi-bagging to cartoning, shrink wrapping and manual rework. It also offers an innovative Managed Internal Packing Service (MIPS), where a skilled, flexible work force is supplied to a customer’s facility, providing an efficient yet cost-effective alternative to using a recruitment agency. Interview with Steve Frixou – Evolve Pack Managing Director

In a couple of sentences, tell me a little about yourself?

I am married and live with my wife, two children and our new puppy max in Derbyshire. I am a football fan and I also enjoy outdoor activities including clay pigeon shooting.

I am the founder of Evolve Pack and believe in my team being involved in driving the business forward. My role is like a caretaker rather than a boss, to make sure the machine is running well and is supported so that everyone in the business gets to achieve what they strive for.

How did you get into the industry?

I started out in 1996 setting up a forward thinking recruitment agency supplying highly skilled, ambassador workforces into large manufacture, warehouse and distribution companies across the East Midlands. As the company grew we found that we were getting more and more involved in contract packing and took the decision to leave behind the traditional recruitment service and to focus our growth on the provision of contract packing services, evolving from Apollo the recruitment agency into Evolve Pack, the contract packing specialists.

Why contact packing rather than recruitment?

Accountability! Our company aim is to care more and give more, and as a result our business relationships are long and successful. This logic has helped us to evolve the “win as one” principle:

“Success first for our clients, and then invoice for part of this success”.

We believe that value for money is charging clients per case packed and not on time sheets. Our responsibility is the effective use of labour and charging for a job well done. This is in contrast to the recruitment industry, whose business model is to maximise billed hours each week.

What do you think are the challenges facing our sector?

As an external 3rd party contract packer it is getting increasingly difficult to reduce overheads. The National Living Wage will come into effect from April 2016 along with the introduction of new pension requirements and there are the ever rising costs of utilities to run a site of our own. We are finding that more and more work is being bought into clients own business and to keep up with the ever changing markets we need to work closer on-site with clients to secure a competitive strategy.

What do you most enjoy about working for Evolve Pack?

The people, I enjoy seeing everyone striving and enjoying what they do, and being just as excited when they reach their goals, this makes my job worthwhile.

Now for a quick fire round….

What is your favorite cuisine? – Spanish

What is your favorite sport to watch? – Football

What is your favorite colour? – Royal Blue

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be? – I love the UK and wouldn’t wish to live anywhere else

Which do you prefer, tea or coffee? – Definitely tea

Would you like to know more about Cartoning?

Cartoning is one of Evolve Pack’s most flexible automated packing lines. Removing the need for manual rework, our cartoning machines robotically creates a box from a flat pack template, inserts product into the carton, applies adhesive at each end and seals the box.

With no expensive set up costs or unseen overheads Evolve Pack’s automated cartoners accommodate boxes of all shapes and sizes packing upwards of 60 units per minute. To see how cartoning works, please see our video  Cartoning Process

Cartonining can be used for a range of products such as pre packed food goods, confectionary, medicine, cosmetics and many more. At Evolve Pack we offer a bespoke and professional contract packing service, for more information please contact us.

A great two days at Packaging Innovations Exhibition

On the 23rd and 24th February Evolve Pack exhibited at the Packaging Innovations Exhibition. This is our third year at the Exhibition and a great way to get in front of key decisions makers in our sector.

This year we opted for a different stand layout with two open sides and this worked extremely well. We went for a fresh look and feel with updated stand graphics and also launched our new company brochure. Our cabinet was full of examples of the range of services we offer from manual re-work to flow wrapping.

Evolve Pack’s stand was located in the designated Contract Packing area and opposite the British Contract Manufacturers and Packers Association (BCMPA). This was a great location with access to the BMCPA hospitality suite for delegate conversations.

This year exceeded all expectations, we had some great conversations with current and prospective clients and were very impressed with the footfall. We are looking forward to exhibiting again next year.

Our Shrink Wrapping Service

Do you have a product that you need to keep clean, safe and secure? Evolve pack have the solution with shrink wrapping.

A contract packing service, shrink wrapping is a flexible plastic film that when exposed to a heating process, will shrink around a product. This is most commonly used for transporting goods as it keeps the product clean and secure during transit, is also used for collating small products like cans and drink bottles.

At Evolve Pack we offer a bespoke shrink wrapping service that also enables us to use different thicknesses of film. Higher quality display films can be used to enhance the look of a product such as video games and tablets.

As part of our shrink wrapping service Evolve pack also offer Heat Sealing and L-Sealing. Heat Sealing is a manual process which enables us to seal along the top or bottom – or both – of a poly bag when bagging products in multiples, an example of this is sweets. Our L-Sealer is ideal for shrink wrapping items with rigid, straight edges such as brochures, DVD boxes, and CDs

With all of our contract packing services, we have the facilities to be flexible to your business needs and also have the skills and experience required to give you the reassurance that the job will be completed in a professional manner.
